SKI is a full-service interior design firm, offering support for every aspect of your renovation - from layouts, materials and furniture selection to project management - to help you transform your house into a home.

I launched SKI because I’ve witnessed too many friends and family members talk about how making real improvements to their home feels out of reach and overwhelming. I wanted to help streamline and demystify the renovation process so homeowners can maximize their space without breaking the bank. Although we spend a lot of time inside the four walls we call home, sometimes it doesn’t feel like ours. The right touches and upgrades can go a long way to making your home feel like it represents you - but sometimes you need a little support getting there.

A little about who you’re working with.

My name is Ellie Rutledge Silver, owner and principal at SKI. My journey to supporting home and business owners in their design projects has been a somewhat unconventional one.

I spent more than a decade working in mission-driven non-profit organizations in DC, where I supported issues and causes I’m passionate about through communications and advocacy efforts. If you’ve ever spent time in the non-profit space, you know it can be uniquely demanding and draining. In 2024, I decided to pivot to interior design full time so I could work more hands on and put my design skills to use.

I was helping friends and family with their home projects as a hobby and never thought it could be a career. But then my dad, a born problem solver who always said his career in engineering was just a hobby he was lucky enough to get paid for, passed away unexpectedly in 2024. I knew the best way to honor his memory and what he taught me was to find a way to feel the same joy in my career that he felt in his. And so, Silver Key Interiors was born.

It’s a small, woman-owned business that brings a personal touch to every aspect of your project.

The name Silver Key Interiors isn’t just about unlocking the potential of your home with a key. My dad’s middle name was Keys and I named SKI after him. It’s a daily reminder to myself and my clients that I will always go the extra mile to make sure your house is everything you want it to be. That’s my promise to you.
